Willie Fritz officially takes over as Tulane football head coach
NEW ORLEANS - Willie Fritz has officially taken the reins of the Green Wave football team at Tulane University.
The official announcement took place late Tuesday morning at the Jill H. and Avram A. Glazer Family Club at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans. Fritz is Tulane’s 40th head coach.
He comes to the position by way of Georgia Southern where he also operated as head coach. The NCAA says Fritz has 193 career victories to his name, and is currently the fourth active winningest head coach among coaches in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Coach Fritz was in attendance last night as the Green Wave men’s hoops team knocked off the Prairie View A&M Panthers at the Avram B. Fogelman Arena by a score of 63-49. He received a warm welcome from the fans in attendance as he briefly addressed them ahead of Tuesday’s press event.
