Why does New Orleans smell bad?
NEW ORLEANS- Something smells around the Crescent City, and it's got the nose of two agencies.
The Coast Guard and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality are investigating widespread reports of nasty odors.
The reported smells include burning rubber, natural gas, and a petrochemical smell.
DEQ spokesman Tim Beckstrom said the agency is working to pinpoint the source.
Reports have been made from Harahan to Metairie on the East Bank and Terrytown on the West Bank.
