White moves officers to the street
BATON ROUGE- Newly sworn-in Baton Rouge Police Chief Dewayne White says he wants to continue "trimming fat" in the police department by taking ranked officers out of headquarters and putting them in the field.
White told a community meeting Thursday his department is "top heavy" and he has already moved four lieutenants back into the field to provide supervision to officers.
White says he has formed a committee to figure out how to "put more boots on the ground."
White reiterated his commitment to the community by saying he wants his officers to go door-to-door and meet Baton Rouge residents.
