Cases of the West Nile Virus continues to rise in the Greater Baton Rouge Area.
Three cases of West Nile have been confirmed in the area over the last several weeks, one in East Baton Rouge Parish and two in Ascension Parish.
Officials say people should continue to take precautions to protect themselves from mosquito bites, and empty containers filled with water around their homes.
Mosquitoes become infected with West Nile Virus when they bite wild birds, such as Cardinals and House Sparrows, infected with the disease.
Citizens may call EBRMARC at 356-3297 for assistance between 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday - Friday. The service is free.
