West Feliciana prepares for floods
ST. FRANCISVILLE- The US Army Corps of Engineers anticipates opening the Morganza flood structure sometime next week, until then folks in West Feliciana Parish continue to make preps to shore up their property before it is inundated with water.
"Our camp is in jeopardy of going under water so we're gonna go up there with some trailer jacks and jack it up, chalk it up as high as we can get it," said Brad Smith as he loaded up his boat before heading out on the river.
Other folks are keeping an eye on the river, so much so, they're already thinking about altering previous plans.
"We've got a trip planned to leave Tuesday for Florida, but I think we're gonna cancel that because a lot of my neighbor we were all gonna go together, but I think we're gonna stay home and watch what's gonna happen here," said Richard Woest, who was measuring water levels with a GPS device.
The Corps urges those in the flood plain to make plans for a possible evacuation and listen to the news for updates on their area.
