BATON ROUGE- Initial claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana increased for the week ending Nov. 3.
Figures released Friday show initial claims numbered 2,602. The previous week's total was 2,568. For the comparable week a year earlier, ending Nov. 5, 2011, the figure was 3,678.
The four-week moving average of initial claims, a less volatile measurement, fell to 2,743 from the previous week's average of 2,855.
Continued unemployment weeks claimed for the week ending Nov. 3 decreased to 30,304 from the previous week's 30,530. The four-week moving average for such claims decreased to 30,626 from the previous week's 30,935.
