Weekly initial unemployment claims up
BATON ROUGE - First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending Oct. 12 increased from the previous week's total.
The state labor department figures released Friday show 2,513 initial claims compared to 2,456 a week earlier.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,443 from the previous week's average of 2,480.
Continued unemployment claims claimed for the week ending Oct. 12 decreased to 22,760 compared to the previous week's total of 23,293.
The four-week moving average of such claims decreased to 23,368 from the previous week's average of 23,693.
