Weekend traffic possible due to I-10 roadwork near Grosse Tete
BATON ROUGE - Traffic officials warn motorists of weekend traffic delays that are anticipated due to a current project on I-10 near Grosse Tete in Iberville Parish through the end of next month.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development began lane closures on both sides of the Interstate 10 around exit 139 last weekend.
According to LA DOTD, a closure is scheduled for the left westbound lane starting this evening at 8 p.m. through Monday at 6 a.m. The closure will take place a quarter mile past exit 139.
During the construction period, motorists are encouraged to use the designated detour below (click the image for a larger version):
Traffic officials say some work areas are located at transitions between roadway pavement and a bridge or overpass, so the work is made more complex and will require more time than a typical overlay construction.
The $6.3 million roadway resurfacing project, which runs along I-10 from Ramah to the West Baton Rouge Parish line, will provide a smoother ride along about 6.3 miles of I-10. The project began in February of this year with an expected completion date set in winter of 2015.
