Weekend Heat Continues
HOT TEMPS GET EVEN HOTTER
As the first day of school gets underway today, the hottest consecutive days of the year also begin to make an appearance. We could very well begin to experience some of the warmest days of the year throughout this weekend and into the first part of next week as a large dome of high pressure sets up over the Gulf of Mexico and also to our north and west. High pressure is responsible for providing sinking air instead of rising air which Low pressure allows. This sinking air greatly inhibits cloud formation, and without the ability to form clouds come the inability to produce rain. The moisture will be firmly in place today and tomorrow and will easily drive the heat indices to the 105-108 mark. Now, as we move into Saturday and Sunday the moisture will become very limited and therefore the heat index will hold steady at or near the air temperature. Look for the warmest temperature readings to occur beginning Saturday through Tuesday at or over the 100 degree mark.
