WBRZ recognizes top high school athletes with its Fans' Choice Award

WBRZ Sports 2 Louisiana will kick off the 2009 prep football season in South Louisiana with the 14th year of the Fans’ Choice High School Athlete of the Week Award.

Beginning Monday, September 7th, coaches, players and fans are encouraged to watch WBRZ News 2 Louisiana at 6pm and 10pm or visit our website, 2theadvocate.com, to nominate their favorite high school football athlete of the week.  On Tuesday’s viewers cast their votes online and on Wednesday’s the top vote getter will be announced with a special story on WBRZ News 2 Louisiana at 10pm. Their story will also air in our high school football show “Friday Night Blitz” Friday nights at 10:35pm.

Last year, Fans’ Choice received more than 8,614 votes from a dozen parishes.  The Fans’ Choice winners from 2008 included Colin Ellis (Running Back – Denham Springs High School), Joshua Lewis (Denham Springs High School), Tyler Moore (Quarterback – Denham Springs High School), Scott Charleville (Quarterback – Ascension Catholic High School), Shane Andrus (Running Back – Christian Life Academy), Eddie Lacy (Running Back – Dutchtown High School), Jeremy Meyers (Quarterback – St. Michael the Archangel High School), Brian Legendre (Running Back – Parkview Baptist), and Drew Dileo (Running Back – Parkview Baptist).
