WBRSO major accused of drug, malfeasance charges
PORT ALLEN - A West Baton Rouge Sheriff's major faces multiple drug and distribution charges after his arrest Monday night.
Authorities arrested Maj. Mervin Jerome Fontenot on suspicion of possessing oxycodone, malfeasance in office, and possessing with intent to distribute valium, codeine, and crack cocaine.
Col. Richie Johnson said Fontenot resigned prior to being booked in jail, and had served with the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office for 17 years.
