WBR talks school security, plans to tour schools
WEST BATON ROUGE - School board leaders in West Baton Rouge Parish are developing a plan to respond to school shootings. All this after the deadly school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
School board members, principals and teachers tossed many ideas around. But the suggestion that erupted emotions was the idea to have teachers or principals carry guns. A former teacher spoke out, saying teachers play many roles, not limited to counselor, mom and dad.
No final decisions were made Monday night. WBR school leaders will be touring campus sites with police next month. The site visits are intended to help develop a comprehensive school shooting plan.
