GONZALES - Authorities in Livingston and Ascension parishes announced they would close waterways to recreational boat traffic starting at 6 p.m. tonight.

The closure will last until water levels recede after last night's heavy rainfall.

Both parishes saw scattered flooding in towns and subdivisions after receiving several inches of rain overnight and throughout the morning.
