A water emergency exists in Ames, Iowa after record flooding and eight water main breaks. The breaks allowed tainted water to infiltrate the system. The city's water towers have enough water to start flushing the system but residents were warned to conserve so the city can return to normal. A boil order remains in effect and bottled water is available. The mayor says residents should not expect drinkable water from the taps until sometime next week.
