Water quality improves, fewer beach advisories
BATON ROUGE- Fewer Louisiana beaches have swim advisories this weekend.
Only four have warnings posted for swimmers to swim at their own risk. Holly Beach, Rutherford, Cypremort and Grand Isle #2 have posted warnings.
Just a few weeks ago, half or more had warnings about dangerous bacteria in the water.
Earlier this summer, there was a more stern warning about potential flesh-eating bacteria being off the coast. Some people became ill and one person died.
The state tests the water regularly and posts warnings as needed.
