DENVER - They've spent a lot of time talking about each other -- and now, President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney will be talking to each other, and to tens of millions of viewers of tonight's first debate between them.

The Obama campaign is planning more than 4,000 debate-watching events around the country. The Romney camp is planning hundreds of debate parties at restaurants, VFW halls and other sites, mostly in battleground states.

The campaigns of Romney and Obama have each set up websites where they'll be responding in real time to what their opponent says in tonight's debate in Denver.

The first half of the debate is expected to focus on the economy, while the rest of tonight's domestic policy debate will deal with health care, the role of government and governing.

The debate comes as Romney trails in the polls in a number of key states. He's looking for a breakout performances in the three debates over the next three weeks.
