President arrives in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE - Governor John Bel Edwards and Mayor Kip Holden welcomed the President to Louisiana shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

President Obama will stay the night in Baton Rouge. Thursday, he is scheduled to speak at McKinley High School.

The president arrived in a modified 757, not the traditional 747 aircraft.  The president and Louisiana Congressman Cedric Richmond exited the plane and met Edwards and Holden at the bottom of stairs where the motorcade was waiting. 

Parts of I-10 and I-110 were closed as the president's motorcade traveled through the city.  More rolling closures are planned for Thursday.

The president will hold a town hall meeting at McKinley High School then participate in an online question and answer session on the social media site, Twitter.
