COFFS HARBOUR, Australia - Video posted on Facebook shows a woman remaining incredibly calm after she realized a giant spider had hitched a ride in her car.

Bianca Merrick on her way home when she looked up and found the huge, hairy arachnid right above her head.

"Unfortunately, the spider is real," Merrick told Yahoo. 

Merrick lives in the brush near Coffs Harbour, saying that spiders aren't all that uncommon. She did however note that the spiders are usually on the outside of the car.

"I considered stopping, but I didn’t know how I’d get it out of the car so I thought the best option for me was to keep driving and pretend it wasn’t there for the longest 20 minutes of my life."

Merrick says she quickly jumped out of the car, locked the door and went to bed. When she went back to her car to confront the creature the next morning, she says it had disappeared. 

A brief video of her encounter with the spider has been viewed more than 250,000 times on Facebook.
