CLEARWATER, Fl.- A deputy's dash cam captured footage of a small plane crash on a Florida roadway Sunday morning.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, two deputies were responding to a service call around 10 a.m. when a single engine plane crashed on a Clearwater roadway.

Deputies rushed to the scene of the crash to assist the pilot and his passenger.

The owner of the plane, Marc Benedict, is a resident of Clearwater. He was piloting the airplane at the time of the crash.

Authorities say the airplane took off from Clearwater Air Park Sunday morning and traveled to Zephyrhills. Benedict and his passenger were returning to the air park when something went wrong.

Benedict told deputies he thought the airplane was having engine problems, the sheriff's office said.

The plane went down about half a mile from the air park. No injuries were reported.
