Washed-out road at Southern waiting for work
BATON ROUGE - A washed-out road on Southern University's campus remained closed Monday while officials determine how to fix it, and how it'll be paid for.
SUBR spokesperson Ed Pratt said grounds crews found the washed-out part of E.C. Harrison Street on June 3 and blocked off the road leading to the dorms.
Pratt said they believe the damage was caused by an aged culvert which deteriorated during last week's heavy rains.
The university met with the Corps of Engineers and state officials to work out a plan for how to fix the road. Pratt said they would also have to secure a source of funding to cover the work that needs to be done.
