Warrant issued in parking lot murder
BATON ROUGE - Police asked for the public's help finding a Brusly man accused of shooting and killed someone during a drug deal in a Baton Rouge parking lot.
Baton Rouge Police issued an arrest warrant Friday for 22-year-old Aljerard Warner in connection with the Dec. 23 shooting on Choctaw Drive.
Detectives said Warner met with 19-year-old Derrell Haynes for a drug deal around 7:44 p.m. Tuesday. During the transaction police said Warner shot Haynes in the chest and drove away.
Investigators said a friend of Haynes drove him to a nearby auto parts store to call for help. Haynes later died at a local hospital.
Police said Warner is wanted for first-degree murder. Anyone who has information on his whereabouts or on the shooting should call the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869.
