Warrant issued, cars sought in overnight murder
GEISMAR - Sheriff's deputies in Ascension Parish asked for the public's help tracking down multiple suspects in a murder last night.
Detectives said just after 8 p.m. Wednesday deputies found Bernard Solomon, 20, shot in the intersection of Ellem Road and Stevenson Road off Highway 73. EMS took him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators got a warrant today for Richard Guathier Jr., 18, of Donaldsonville on suspicion of first-degree murder. They said he and the victim were known to be acquaintances, but didn't have a motive for the killing.
Detectives also said people living near the intersection saw two vehicles fleeing the area after the shooting happened: a mid-sized silver car believed to be a Nissan Altima, and another mid-sized car that was either red or maroon. Surveillance cameras also got pictures of both vehicles turning left on Highway 73 from Stevenson Road, heading south toward Highway 30.
Detectives believe an unknown number of male suspects were in in the silver car, and two males were in the maroon car. Both vehicles and the people in the them are sought by investigators, who said more arrests could be coming.
Anyone with information about this crime or the two vehicles should contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or by texting their anonymous tip line at 847411.
