WALKER, La. - Dogs in Walker will soon have a playground all to themselves.

Mayor Rick Ramsey tells The Advocate that the city will donate land near the lake at Sidney Hutchinson Park to be used as a community dog park.

The idea, the mayor says, was suggested by local SPCA president Terri Dunlap.

Architect Jamie Seal surveyed the land with Dunlap and other SPCA members this past week and put together a wish list for the park that will include water features, a brick pathway, a pavilion to host adoption events and picnic tables.
