Walker man arrested for public bribery
WALKER - Sheriff's deputies arrested a man for public bribery after they said he tried to get someone to drop charges against him and his daughter.
Deputies had earlier arrested Herman Severio, 66, and his daughter Holly Severio, 32, in July. Investigators said Herman shot a person's dog and slashed a $2,000 saddle, while his daughter set fire to a covered wagon owned by the same person.
Deputies charged Herman with animal cruelty and criminal damage to property, and charged Holly with simple arson.
Today deputies said they learned Herman later offered the victim $2,000 to drop all charges against him and his daughter. He was then re-arrested in suspicion of public bribery.
Both Herman and Holly Severio have bonded out of the Livingston Parish Detention Center. The case is still under investigation.
