Walk-off! Chris Sciambra hits 9th inning home run in Tigers game 1 win
BATON ROUGE - Chris Sciambra hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning to lift the LSU Tigers to a 4-3 win over Louisiana-Lafayette in game 1 of their Super Regional.
This roller coaster game had it all, from an early Tigers lead to a gritty Cajuns comeback to the ultimate play from the former Catholic High standout.
The Tigers took a 3-2 lead into the 9th, but Brenn Conrad hit a pinch-hit solo home run in the top of the 9th to tie the game at 3.
Jake Fraley was a star early for the Tigers, getting two RBI hits, including a 2 run home run in the 3rd inning gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead.
Alex Lange finished with 8 innings pitched, 11 strikeouts, and gave up 3 runs as the Cajuns started to wear him down in the later innings.
The Cajuns run in the 6th was the first run in Lange's past 3 starts.
The winner of this series goes to the College World Series: it's the first time the two in-state rivals have met in the Super Regional round.
