BATON ROUGE - Stephen Waguespack has been named as the next president of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI).

LABI is the state's largest and most influential business group.

Waguespack will follow outgoing president Dan Juneau who has run the organization since 1989.

Juneau announced his plans to retire earlier this year.

Waguespack has served as special counsel with the Jones Walker law firm since last year.

He also served in the Jindal administration, most recently as chief of staff.

His first day as LABI president will be September 16.
