Voters approve Lake Charles casino project
LAKE CHARLES- Voters in Calcasieu Parish have approved a proposal to bring a fourth riverboat casino to the area.
Creative Casinos LLC plans to use the 15th and final riverboat gambling license allowed by Louisiana law to build a $400 million gambling resort known as Mojito Pointe.
With all 120 precincts reporting late Saturday, the measure authorizing riverboat gambling was passed 77 percent to 23 percent.
Besides three other riverboats in Lake Charles, the casino would compete with the Delta Downs race track casino and a popular Indian reservation casino at nearby Kinder.
