SORRENTO - With the month of October nationally designated as Fire Prevention Month, firefighters visited Sorrento Primary School on Friday morning to present fire prevention information to students.

Students enjoyed live demonstrations of the actual techniques and tools used in the field by members of the Sorrento Volunteer Fire Department. Presentation topics ranged from smoke detectors to general fire safety drills along with a guide to establishing a safe escape plan for the home.

As one would expect, the students were most appreciative of the exhaustive tour firefighters provided of one of the Sorrento Fire Rescue trucks the volunteer crew brought with them to the school campus.

The Sorrento Volunteer Fire Department has a special page on their website dedicated to activities for kids including printable fire safety work sheets at sorrentofire.org
