U.S. Sen. David Vitter says he'll stop holding up President Barack Obama's nominations for federal
prosecutors and judgeship positions in Louisiana.

Vitter had been refusing to sign off on the nominations because he wanted assurances the White House wouldn't get rid of U.S. Attorney Jim Letten in the Eastern District, based in New Orleans.

Vitter says he's now confident Letten will remain in the post and will remove his objections to the other appointments.

Vitter says he's secure Letten will keep his job because U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder named Letten on Monday to a committee that provides advice to the attorney general on policy, management and operational issues.
