Village shootings, American accused
KABUL - Afghan and NATO officials say a US service person walked out of a base in southern Afghanistan before dawn today and started shooting Afghan civilians in two villages. Officials said 16 people were killed including women and children. NATO forces have detained the US service person who has not been identified. NATO has apologized for the shootings, calling them "callous acts" and that were "in no way" authorized.
