BATON ROUGE - A video montage showing fights involving young people is raising questions about the timing of the release.

The videos were released on-line by the organization Local Schools for Local Children on the heels of the passage of the bill that set up a breakway school district in the southeast area of Baton Rouge.

"Citizens in Baton Rouge need to know what's going on in our school system," said Local Schools For Local Children spokesperson Norman Browning. "This is why you need smaller school systems. This is why you need community school systems."

The group One Community One School questions the timing of the release.

"It makes me really sad that Local Schools for Local Children is willing to use children so callously in this political fight in the breakaway school district," said One Community One School spokesperson Belinda Davis.

"This is not political," said Browning. "This is real to our parents. This is real to our teachers. This is real to our students. That's what I say."

The second part of the package is a constitutional amendment. The vote is expected to take place next week.
