BATON ROUGE - Victims say surveillance video shows a parent teaching kids to steal personal items from stores.

Baton Rouge Police are investigating multiple incidences, where a woman and her three children visit stores to steal personal items including purses, phones, and wallets.

Bella Bella employees at Bocage Village, identify the woman as Raven Nelson. They say Raven and her mother, Rebecca Nelson, coerced the children to steal.

"I never thought he was trying to take my purse," said employee Anna Johnson.

Caught on surveillance, a child, snatching Johnson's purse, from behind the counter, while Johnson was helping Nelson, in the back of the store.

"Quite frankly, it's disgusting to think that this is ingrained in these children at an early age," said store owner Elise Decoteau. "It's one thing when you steal from me, it's another thing when you steal from my employees."

Bella Bella says the Rebecca Nelson wasn't with the group, when Johnson's purse was stolen, but authorities have tied her to at least one other heist.

Police say the children are with child protective services.
