HOLDEN - State fire marshal H. "Butch" Browning says a mobile home fire in Holden killed a 30-year-old woman and her 7-year-old daughter.
He says the father and three other children were injured but made it out.
One child told firefighters she escaped by using a school safety lesson about crawling low in smoke.
Browning says Elizabeth Ballard and her daughter Michelle died in the fire, which started just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
He says the cause is being investigated, but nothing looks suspicious.
Browning says there were no smoke alarms and multiple space heaters in use.
He says the father tried to get everyone out, and he and the other three children barely escaped. Browning says none of them had life-threatening injuries
