Victim of Bayou Manchac crash identified
BATON ROUGE - The Memorial Day weekend is off to a deadly start on the roadway in Baton Rouge.
A car drove off the interstate and into Bayou Manchac near the East Baton Rouge-Ascension Parish line just after midnight Friday. It happened off of I-10 East just past the Highland Rd. exit.
According to State Police, at least one person in the car was able to make it out okay, but 45-year-old Armand M. Marchand, IV died from his injuries. Investigators have not determined why the car swerved off the road.
Authorities are waiting for the results of a toxicology report.
