Victim identified in Saturday shooting
BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge Police say Eddie Lee Marshall, 63, was the victim of a deadly shooting Saturday afternoon in Old South Baton Rouge.
Police say it happened on the 600 block of Polk Street.
An unidentified 37-year-old female was also shot twice in the leg, but is expected to survive. Witnesses say she was leaving a family cookout when she was caught in the line of fire.
A witness to the shooting tells WBRZ News 2, "This is tragic."
The witness said when she heard the shots at her family barbeque she grabbed her blind neighbor and ducked behind homes.
She says the violence needs to stop, "kids out here, they could have been really hurt."
Marshall died on scene. Police are still looking into why the shooting happened, and have not named any suspects.
