ROSEDALE, La. - Iberville Parish sheriff's deputies say a single-car crash Monday morning, has claimed the life of a Mississippi man.

The crash happened on La. Highway 77 outside of Rosedale.

Authorities say Jeffrey Preston Jr., of Gulfport, drove his pickup head-on into a tree.

He died at the scene.

Authorities say Preston was not wearing his seatbelt.

People who live near the wreck said they heard the impact, but no sounds that Preston tried to stop.

Investigators also said they didn't find physical signs Preston tried to stop the vehicle.
