Victim identified in Florida Blvd. accident

Update: Police have named the victim that died at the scene of a traffic crash earlier today on Florida Boulevard.

73-year-old Audrey Granger, Baton Rouge, was the front seat passenger in a 2002 Mitsubishi Gallant. The car was heading north, from the south service, when it was hit by a 2010 GMC Acadia that was westbound on Florida Blvd. The GMC hit the Mitsubishi on the passenger side.

The driver of the Gallant is Granger’s daughter-in-law, 39-year-old Lisa Varnado, Denham Springs. She suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. Police say her two sons, ages 4 and 10, were in the back seat. The 4-year-old also suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. The 10-year-old suffered moderate injuries. All were transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

27-year-old Alison Waguespack, St. Amant, has been identified as the driver of the GMC. She suffered moderate injuries and was also transported to OLOL.

At this time no charges have been filed. BRPD Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing its investigation.
