Victim identified in deadly interstate crash
PORT ALLEN – State Police have identified the driver who was killed in a crash on I-10 that tied up traffic throughout Monday morning.
32-year-old Victoria Archangel of Lafayette was killed after investigators said she rear-ended a pickup while heading east on I-10, spinning out of control across the median where she was hit by an oncoming flatbed truck. State Police said she was not wearing a seatbelt, and was thrown out of the vehicle.
The driver of the flatbed truck had moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The driver of the pickup was not injured.
Trooper Russell Graham said investigators did not suspect anyone was impaired in the crash, but took blood samples from Archangel and the flatbed truck driver to be tested. The pickup driver gave a breath test on the scene and did not show any signs of alcohol in his system.
