Vicksburg father-son dead after apparent murder-suicide
VICKSBURG, Miss. - A Vicksburg man and his son are dead from an apparent murder-suicide after a family argument at their home on Christmas day.
The home was destroyed by fire Christmas night.
James Jarrod Wasson, 39, and 9-year-old Jim Wasson, were found in the home's driveway Friday night.
Deputy Police Chief Bobby Stewart says both were dead from lacerations. Their bodies were taken to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for autopsies.
Stewart said police were called about a domestic disturbance about 9 p.m. and officers arrived to find flames breaking through the roof.
Stewart says Wasson's wife and 7-year-old son escaped the fire. He says the woman had been beaten and was treated at an area hospital and released. The younger child was not injured.
