Veterans Day events honor military for service
Across the nation on Veterans Day today, Americans are honoring the sacrifices and service of the armed forces.
President Barack Obama plans to attend a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. In his proclamation, Obama says the country's obligations to those who have served "endure long after the battle ends."
The District of Columbia will honor two of the original Tuskegee Airmen with the Congressional Gold Medal and Washington Mayor Vincent Gray and congressional delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton will lay a wreath at the African American Civil War Memorial.
Below is a list of some Veterans Day events in the Baton Rouge area:
9am-4pm, Veterans Day event at Ascension Parish Library will have a memorabilia display.
11am, Speech at Veterans Memorial Park.
11am-1pm, Veterans Day event at Louisiana's Old State Capitol.
12pm, Veterans Day event at Brusly Town Hall.
12pm, Veterans Day event will be held at the Museum of African American History
1:30pm-5pm, Veterans Day tribute at Iberville's veterans Memorial.
3pm, Veterans Day tribute at Redwood Cemetery
5pm, Veterans Day tribute at Baton Rouge Community College
