Verizon Wireless said it spent $57 million in southern Louisiana last year to expand and enhance wireless services.

Projects included new cell sites and network facilities and covered areas from Lake Charles to New Orleans and south of Alexandria.

The company said it spent $88 million last year on expanding Louisiana service.
