A daring daylight robbery of an armored car outside a casino in Las Vegas netted the thieves thousands, not the millions they wanted. It happened when one robber threw a fluorescent light bulb on the ground which sounded like an explosion. It startled an armored car guard carrying a money bag. When the guard looked up, he was confronted by a shotgun-toting thief. Investigators are also trying to determine if a car fire in a nearby parking garage was set as a diviersion to attract the attention of casino guards. Neither the bag carrying guard or his collegue in the truck was hurt. Two thieves were seen driving away from the Station Casino in a small beige car. The casino says the money bag contained $36,000 in cash and the rest of the loot was checks or other reciepts.
