Various charges filed against multiple people after home invasion
GONZALES - Police were tight-lipped about a home invasion case where multiple people were arrested, including some who were not the offenders involved in the home invasion.
A spokesperson released limited details of the attack Monday afternoon. In an email, the police department said the home invasion happened early Monday morning on Hamilton Street when the suspect in the home invasion was shot. Police said the unidentified suspect had surgery and will make a full recovery and added charges were also filed against numerous people within the home. The home invasion suspect will be charged, too.
But, a woman inside the home, who asked not to be identified out of fear, said the person who shot the suspect was her son and believes he acted in self defense. She said the home invasion suspect broke into her house and held her, her daughter and a man inside at gunpoint. She said her son arrived and fired a shot at the intruder, chased him outside then fired again. She said her son was charged since he shot the intruder outside.
