Vanderbilt head football coach Bobby Johnson announced his retirement Wednesday. The 59-year-old coach claimed that the abrupt decision is for personal reasons.
The Commodores are set to begin fall practice in nearly three weeks and kick off their season in seven weeks. Assistant head coach Robbie Caldwell will serve as the interim head coach.
Johnson was 29-66 in his time at Vanderbilt including a Music City Bowl win in 2008 with a 7-6 record.
