Utah wants Winter Games again
Utah and Salt Lake City plan to make another bid for the Winter Olympics after having hosted in 2002. It's considered a long shot bid for the 2026 games since other U.S. cities argue its their turn. Denver and the Reno-Lake Tahoe area want to make a bid, as well. Utah says it can capitalize on the infrastructure already in place from the 2002 games. The Utah games were successful but the bid was tarnished by scandal when it became public that Utah showered $1 million dollars in gifts and favors to the International Olympic Committee delegates. The scandal forced the rewriting of the rule book for Olympic bids.
