US, S Korean warships take position in Yellow Sea

YEONPYEONG ISLAND, South Korea - A U.S. supercarrier and South Korean destroyer have taken up position in the Yellow Sea for joint military exercises.

The united show of force comes just days after a deadly North Korean artillery attack.

North Korea says it will be "merciless" if U.S.-South Korean military exercises get too close to its territory.

South Korea's Defense Ministry has ordered journalists to leave the front-line island of Yeonpyeong (yuhn-pyuhng), citing the high tensions with Pyongyang. The Defense Ministry says "the situation is not good" on the island.

The war games that are scheduled to last until Wednesday.

Meanwhile, China is calling for an emergency meeting of regional powers involved in nuclear disarmament talks, including North Korea.
