US 190 reopens after WBR crash
PORT ALLEN - Authorities fully reopened US 190 in West Baton Rouge Parish after a wreck between two 18-wheelers shut the highway down this morning.
State Police said after 6 a.m. one big rig rear-ended another on US 190 between between LA 983 and South Winterville Road. The trucks hit hard enough that crews have spent several hours working to separate them so they can be hauled away.
The Department of Transportation and Development said the left lane at the wreck site reopened around 10:15 a.m., but the right lane was still blocked. They fully reopened the road just before 1:30 p.m.
Trooper Jared Sandifer said the driver of the 18-wheeler which caused the wreck was cited for careless operation.
