BATON ROUGE - Update: 4:45 p.m. Both trailers are upright, offloaded and should be towed from the area shortly.
However, I-12 will remain closed a few hours longer while cleanup crews deal with the compressor oil that leaked while the trailer was overturned.
They will also take time to wash down much of the roadway of mud and grass that was brought onto the road as the trailers were pulled to the roadway.
There is no estimate as to the amount of time it will take to complete the cleanup.
Original Story: Traffic officials say the eastbound lanes of Interstate 12 near O'Neal Lane will remain closed at least into the evening hours, after a truck pulling two trailers overturned this morning.
State Police do not have an estimate on when the roadway will be cleared for traffic.
A tandem trailer 18-wheeler crashed in the construction zone just after 6:00 a.m. Friday. Police say it's loaded with isopropyl alcohol and must be off-loaded before the truck can be moved.
Severe weather moving through the area this afternoon is also expected to slow down recovery of the truck.
