ST. LANDRY PARISH - A crash that was originally believed to only have one vehicle involved was later determined to have a second vehicle involved, according to Louisiana State Police.

The driver, 22-year-old Brittany Coupel of Opelousas, came forward and informed Troopers that she was driving a vehicle that collided with the victim's vehicle. The victim, 17-year-old Aaron Quebedeaux of Krotz Springs, died as a result of the crash.

Through further investigation and the driver's statement, State Police determined Coupel was driving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am eastbound on US 190 in the right lane approaching a right curve, according to State Police.

Coupel failed to negotiate the curve, and entered into the left eastbound lane of US 190, colliding with Quebedeaux's vehicle, State Police said. Coupel then fled the scene of the crash.

Coupel was arrested and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail for obstruction of justice, hit and run driving, and vehicular homicide.
