UPDATE: 4 arrested in shooting deaths of two police officers
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A spokesman with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is confirming that a fourth person has been arrested this afternoon on charges related to the shooting of two Hattiesburg police officers.
Warren Strain says 28-year old Cornelius Clark of Hattiesburg has been charged with obstruction of justice. But authorities have not released any details.
Earlier, 29-year-old Marvin Banks and 22-year-old Joanie Calloway were charged with two counts of capital murder, and Banks' 26-year-old brother, Curtis Banks, has been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact of capital murder.
The suspects face court appearances Monday.
The two police officers 34-year-old Benjamin Deen and 25-year-old Liquori Tate were shot and killed during a traffic stop late Saturday.
There's been a steady stream of residents leaving flowers or balloons to honor the fallen officers in the area where the shooting happened.
Alberta Harris, who heads the neighborhood association next to where the shooting occurred, knew the officers. She says "Both of them had a humble spirit. They cared about the people that they were serving and protecting."
